Our horizontal HD and MK cartoners can help you automatically carton your tissue, dryer sheets, or paper rolls efficiently. We have completed highly technical projects, including cartoning dryer sheets at a rate of 150 cartons per minute, which involved stacking and automatically loading dryer sheets. We have also helped companies carton their stacks of tissue paper or paper rolls with either manual or semi-automatic cartoning options. Our MK and HD series come standard with Allen-Bradley controls and servos.
Features
Semi-Automatic or Manual Load Options
AFA Systems offers semi-automatic or manual load options for cartoning tissue, paper towel rolls, and other product applications. Manual load cartoning is a process where an operator manually loads the product into a carton while the cartoner automatically opens and closes the carton. Semi-automatic cartoning is a process where an operator loads product into a flighted conveyor while the cartoner opens, loads, and closes the carton.
Dryer Sheet Collation System
With our linear servo-pack technology and stacking system, we can handle incoming dryer sheets and stack them to the desired count. After the count is achieved, we can load them into cartons at speeds of up to 250 cartons per minute, either continuously or intermittently. Our cartoners can also integrate coupon inserters to enhance the flexibility of your cartoning line further.
Rolls of Tissue Paper
We offer continuous motion cartoners that can choke feed rolls of tissue paper and side shift them into continuous or intermittent motion buckets. Our cartoners will then use either a barrel cam loading system or a servo pusher system to load open cartons. We have also designed cartoners where the rolls of tissue paper are not tacked at the tail end which showcases our world-class engineering capability.
Glue, Tuck, or Sleeve Closure
Our HD and MK cartoners can handle all three closure types (sleeve, tuck, and glue) on the same cartoner. This flexibility is essential for packagers who want to offer their customers multiple options. The changeover processes consist of change parts that are easy to remove and set up. One operator can complete this procedure by switching from a glue closure to a tuck or vice versa. We utilize Nordson ProBlue adhesive system for glue-style cartons.
Allen Bradley Controls Package
All of AFA Systems’ end-of-line packaging machinery features an Allen Bradley control system package. This system includes all AB safety switches, servo motors, drives, PLC, and HMI. This control package provides end users with a very intuitive platform for troubleshooting issues on the machine, completing changeovers, providing accurate fault diagnostic information, setting up and homing new sizes, and configuring glue settings on the system.
