Features
Servo-Driven Rotary Feeders with Prebreak
AFA’s rotary feeders with carton prebreak offer high-speed, high-efficiency carton erecting. The prebreak mechanism ensures square cartons run efficiently with no opportunity for l-shaping on the main conveyor chain. Furthermore, MK series rotary feeders can offer an extensive carton size range and provide easy changeover for operators. The rotary carton feeder can erect and bottom seal cartons at over 200 cartons per minute (cpm).
Gantry Robot Case Erecting
The CE, CP, and TR series case erectors utilize AFA’s gantry robot technology to open cases. The gantry robot case erector uses a vacuum pick head to engage the length panel of the case. A rotary servo-driven arm will pick the bottom width panel, and the system will pull open the case together. The magazine of the case erector will center the case stack so that the gantry robot always picks from the same position. The case erecting robot operates from an Allen Bradley control system with easy user interfacing with the PanelView HMI.
Wet Environment Construction
Our case and carton erectors can provide different levels of wet environment construction for end users. We offer full stainless steel frames, stainless mess guarding to replace standard Lexan guarding, Allen Bradley Kinetix® MPS Stainless-steel Servo Motors, sloped cabinets and junction boxes, stainless steel fasteners, and anodized aluminum on mechanical components. All these features can help extend the longevity of your carton and case erectors in wet environments.
Ergonomic Magazines
The TR, CP, and CE series case erectors offer flat-stack case magazines. Operators place a stack of cases on the magazine, and the magazine will convey the case stack to the picking area. The case magazine will automatically square the case stack. This process ensures the gantry robot picks the case in the same position for each cycle. The MK series case erectors offer 19”, 4’, or 8’ extended magazines. All magazines come standard with low magazine alerts and automatic shut-off when the carton quantity is too low.
Tape, Glue, and Tuck Closures
Our TR, CP, and CE series case erectors can run glue and/or tape-style HSC and RSC cases. We use a Nordson ProBlue adhesive system with SureBead glue guns for glue-style cases and an AFA tape head for tape-style cases. Engineered folding rails and Festo compression cylinders are standard on these case erectors. The MK series carton erector can tuck, glue, or both style cartons on the same machine. The AFA three-stage tucking mechanism ensures consistent closures for tuck-style cartons as the system will fold, insert, and lock in three robust phases.
