Our top or end-load series case packers are ideal for handling trays, rigid products, or roll applications. Our integrated AFA gantry robot technology can ensure rolls are handled accurately from the upstream equipment and efficiently loaded into the case. Furthermore, handling trays or other rigid products can run on end-load style case packers to save floor space and provide a more economical solution. We also have solutions to run bliss-case applications and provide a combination case packer palletizer.
Features
Custom End Effector For Roll-Type Applications
AFA’s gantry robot pick and place systems offer a mechanical gripper to pick and accurately top load rolls into cases. Products in rolls, such as garbage bags, plastic bags, and film, sometimes have telescoping issues when automatically handled. With AFA’s engineered end effector, telescoping issues with rolls are eliminated to increase the overall efficiency of your line. A reverse loader can eliminate telescoping issues for end-load case packers for roll applications.
Bliss Case Applications
Our BP series bliss case packers easily handle projects involving bliss cases. AFA Systems has solutions to handle trays lying flat or on edge in the bliss case. Furthermore, our bliss case formers are integrated into the overall case packer to ensure a monobloc solution. This solution provides end users with a more compact footprint, quicker changeover, fewer transfers, and better overall case packing control.
Gantry Robot Case Erecting
The TR, BP, and CP case packing models feature AFA’s efficient, world-class case erecting technology. The case erector can be set up for either top or side load case erecting. The system features an AFA two-axis robot that picks the length panel of the case, and then a rotary arm picks the width panel of the case. The system then pulls open the case, creating a consistent case-opening procedure that eliminates stationary strike bars, tabs, and pins. The gantry case erector then transports the case onto a case carrier chain conveyor for loading and sealing processes.
Flat Stack Magazines
Our case magazine is very ergonomic for operators. Operators place a stack of cases in a flat orientation on the magazine, and the magazine conveys the stack of cases to the gantry robot’s erecting area. Our case packers also automatically square the case stack before the gantry robot begins erecting cases. This feature ensures the case-erecting robot picks from the same position per cycle. Our flat stack magazines also have no pins or tabs, ensuring excellent case quality through the case packing process.
Wrap-Around Case Packing
AFA offers wrap-around case packing for your end-of-line packaging needs. With the Flat-Stack Magazine, operators place a stack of wrap-around cases on the magazine, and the system automatically squares the stack. AFA’s revolutionary gantry robot case former will pick the wrap-around case and form it in the case packer’s lug conveyor. The CP series wrap-around case packer can add several ancillary equipment, such as tray detectors, bar code readers, printers, and labelers.
