Tray & Carton Formers
High-speed tray and carton formers for speeds up to 120 pieces per minute.
We can provide single, dual, or three-head formers to reach high speeds. Furthermore, our tray and carton formers offer quick, under one-minute changeovers with only one change part. Our carton and tray forming robot provide highly efficient and consistent sealing via engineered folding rails and a Nordson ProBlue adhesive system. Our flat-stack magazines are at an ergonomic level for operators to load carton and tray blanks into the system.
Features
All-Servo Change Over
Our carton and tray formers feature all servo change over to change over the systems in less than one (1) minute. The Allen Bradley servo motors and drives provide exact positioning when adjusting key adjustment points on the system. The only change in this feature is changing the male forming head on the forming robot. This option offers a very fast return on investment as it increases production uptime and eliminates the need for a skilled technician to change over the system.
High Size Range
The size range of our tray formers offers an attractive feature for end users looking for flexibility. Our tray formers can handle lengths as low as 2″. This unique flexibility gives end users many options when selling their services to the marketplace. Furthermore, it gives end users more diversification for their product portfolio. Paired with the all-servo changeover option, the AFA tray former can give end users a unique machinery advantage in the marketplace.
Forming Robot System
AFA Systems utilizes a gantry robot to form trays. The gantry robot provides robust and accurate folding through the female tool of the system. By adding a second gantry robot, the tray former can reach higher speeds (up to 35 trays per minute). Our forming head tools are adjustable to handle a wide size range and very unique sizes. The end of the tool can be a change part. Our gantry robots are 100% built, programmed, and serviced by AFA Systems.
Vertical or Horizontal Carton Forming
AFA can offer horizontal or vertical carton forming depending on the customer’s needs. Both have advantages for machine operation. Our horizontal carton formers offer the flat-stack magazine, which provides an ergonomic level for operators to load cartons and has the potential for increased magazine capacity. The AFA vertical carton formers offer a smaller footprint and can reach higher speeds with the ability to have multiple forming heads.
Glue or Self-locking Closures
Nordson ProBlue adhesive systems provide consistent operation for glue-style trays and cartons. Furthermore, AFA offers its own adhesive unit interface on the machine PanelView HMI. This feature provides operators with a unique interface to change glue patterns, time the glue stitching on the carton, and provide alarms for low glue levels or faults. AFA tray and carton formers can also handle self-locking closures with ease. You can even have combination systems that run glue and self-locking closing on the same machine.
