AFA Systems provides robust solutions for carton applications with tray packers. Our CP and MK series tray packers can handle any carton pack pattern into a corrugated or chipboard-style tray. This flexibility gives end users many options for delivering their product to the market. Furthermore, our tray packers can interface with high-speed cartoning machines for speeds up to 300 cartons per minute.
Features
All Pack Patterns In One Case Packer
With servo-driven horizontal and/or vertical star wheels and Gantry robot collators and loaders, our MK and CP series tray packers can handle any pack pattern on one machine. This feature means the AFA tray packer can load cartons stacked, on edge, or flat into the case. This flexibility is essential to end users as it gives them many marketing options for their product.
High-Speed Operation
Our CP series tray packers can handle speeds up to 350 cartons per minute. This feature means that end users do not need to split their line into two and purchase two tray packers. Furthermore, our robust 4″ x 4″ frames ensure minimal machine vibrations when our tray packers operate at these speeds. Our gantry robot collating system collates cartons before loading them into the tray, ensuring low overall pick and placements and high tray packing speeds.
Gantry or Reciprocating Tray Erecting
Our tray packers have options for either low-speed or high-speed applications. Our reciprocating tray erectors are ideal for small footprints and low-speed applications. This type of feeder can reach 15 trays per minute. For more high-speed applications, the gantry robot tray erecting system packs up to 40 trays per minute. The gantry robot magazine is also a flat-stack design with servo changeover, meaning no tabs or markings on your trays.
Glue or Self-Lock Closing
AFA utilizes Nordson ProBlue adhesive system, folding rails, and compression cylinders to provide consistent tray sealing. This closing solution saves overall tray material and allows for fewer spare parts and maintenance. A self-locking closing system is ideal when customers cannot change their tray closure. These closures require more mechanisms to close and require more tray board. Furthermore, this tray closure hinders high-speed operation as these types of closure require intermittent motion operation.
Chipboard or Fluted Tray Material
Our CP tray packers can handle both chipboard and fluted trays. This feature gives end users high-end flexibility to meet their customers’ demands. The key behind this is AFA’s gantry robot tray erector, which picks up the whole base of the tray to ensure stability when forming the tray into the main chain conveyor lugs.
