Our tray packers for trays, rigid products, and rolls offer smart solutions for handling these product types. We utilize robotic pick-and-place systems, servo-pac collating conveyors, and reverse loaders to ensure your tray packing for trays, rigid products, and rolls runs efficiently. Our reciprocating or robot tray erectors provide consistent tray erecting at high or low speeds. Our tray packers can reach speeds of over 50 trays per minute.
Features
AFA Gantry Robot for Loading Trays
AFA Systems provides its gantry robot to pick and load trays. AFA will design the end-of-arm tool to fit your tray, roll, or rigid product type. AFA’s gantry robot can be designed with two or more heads to load multiple trays per cycle for higher-speed applications. In addition, our gantry robots are built and programmed via an Allen Bradley controls platform, ensuring all the troubleshooting, set-up, and maintenance are done on one system.
Gantry or Reciprocating Tray Erecting
Our tray packers have options for either low or high-speed applications. Our reciprocating tray erectors are ideal for small-footprint and low-speed applications. This type of feeder can reach 15 trays per minute. For more high-speed applications, the gantry robot tray erecting system provides tray packing of up to 50 trays per minute. The gantry robot magazine is also a flat-stack design with servo changeover, meaning no tabs or marking on your trays.
Reverse Loaders or Custom End Effectors For Roll-Type Products
AFA can utilize a reverse loader to stabilize the roll when pushing or handling roll-type products such as garbage bags, plastic bags, or film. This feature ensures consistent loading and high efficiency for our tray packers. In addition, for top-load applications, our custom end effectors can use a mechanical gripper to pick the roll on both ends to maintain the roll’s structural integrity. These features ensure we have the right solution for your tray packing needs.
Glue or Self-Lock Closing
AFA utilizes Nordson ProBlue adhesive system, folding rails, and compression cylinders to provide consistent tray sealing. This closing solution saves overall tray material and allows for fewer spare parts and maintenance. A self-locking closing system is ideal when customers cannot change their tray closure. These closures require more mechanisms to close and require more tray boards. Furthermore, this tray closure hinders high-speed operation as these types of closure require intermittent motion operation.
Chipboard or Fluted Tray Material
Our CP tray packers can handle both chipboard and fluted trays, providing end users with high-end flexibility to meet their customers’ demands. The key behind this is AFA’s gantry robot tray erector, which picks up the whole base of the tray to ensure stability when forming the tray into the main chain conveyor lugs.
